Mindful breathing practice

Hi Yogis and Yoginis,
I wanted to share this short practice with you today. This exercise can be done anywhere, but I would suggest finding a quiet space, sitting in a comfortable position with your feet rooted on the floor or in lotus position. Back straight. Resting in awareness. In stillness.

Begin by breathing in and out slowly. Inhaling and exhaling through the nose, to help slow the breath, bringing your awareness to the coolness of the inhale, the warmth of the exhale. Try not to alter the breath. Simply observe the changes in your body. Lungs expanding and contracting, Ribs rising and falling. Effortlessly. Let go of your thoughts. Let go of things you have to do later today or pending projects that need your attention. Simply let thoughts rise and fall of their own accord and be at one with your breath. If you become distracted by thoughts, know that this is okay, simply acknowledge the thought and allow it to pass. Returning to the breath. Observe with complete awareness, as the breath works work its way up and out of your mouth and its energy dissipates into the world.Rest here in awareness for as long as you wish. Knowing you are grounded and safe in this moment. When you are ready, conciously deepen the breath. Bring your senses back to the room around you. Inhale deeply, raise the hands above the head in a big stretch. Bring the palms to prayer infront of your heart space, and open your eyes.
